Planning to visit Lisbon this winter or want to get to know the capital of the country better? Reasons are not lacking.
- MIRADOUROS – BEST VIEWS OF THE CITY
Built on seven hills and facing the Tagus, Lisbon has several belvederes that are ideal places to enjoy the beauty and incredible light of the city. The viewpoints of Portas do Sol, São Pedro de Alcântara, Graça and Santa Luzia are just a few examples. With spaces to relax and unwind after the steep climbs, some of these belvederes have cafes that serve snacks and refreshments, and in the summer there are even DJs to liven up in the evenings.
- THE REAL LISBON
Alfama, Madragoa, Bairro Alto, Castelo are just some of the typical neighborhoods of Lisbon that give you an idea of how the city was more than 500 years ago. Despite the changes suffered over time, these urban areas retain much of the medieval character with their alleys and staircases. Many families has inhabited in these neighborhoods over several generations and this familiar and proximity environment is felt in the old habits and traditions that remain. It is a unique and private lifestyle in which neighbors talk to each other, often at the window of their homes, while the clothes we use to dry on the street.
- TRAM – A TIME TRIP ON RAIL
The charming old electrics are part of the city’s public transport network, so do not think that they are just a transport for tourist see. They are really part of the day-to-day life of the little houses and are a very interesting way to discover the city, since they pass in the vicinity of most of the major tourist attractions and historical districts. Trams are thus a relaxed way of enjoying the urban fabric and the details that might otherwise go unnoticed.
- DRINK CHEAP BEER
The newspaper looks stunned, but fear there speaks that a bottle of “amber nectar” costs “as little as” two euros in restaurants and cafes. (Wait until you get to know the academic holidays).
- DISCOVER OLD ART
Lisbon proudly displays the role of Portugal at the time of the discoveries, where the city served as the starting point for several exploratory trips around the world.
